MINERAL BASED INDUSTRIES

A.                 Existing Mineral Based Industries

At present two thermal power plants are established in Shahdol district one at Chachai and other is at Birsingpur respectively. One ceramic industry is established by M/s. Chandia ceramic at Chandia. At present this industry has gone sick due to some unavoidable circumstances. Two Burnt lime industries are setup at Jaisinghnagar & Burhar respectively in the district. Besides above about 53 stone crushers are working in the district in which approximately 500 labourers are engaged and employed

B.                Possible Mineral Based Industries
An appraisal of the total mineral resources of Shahdol district, so far known, reveals the fact that the mineral wealth of the district is quite considerable. It encompasses a wide range of minerals containing bauxite, clay, coal, copper ore, fire clay, garnet, gypsum, limestone, marble, ochre and several construction material.
These minerals can be used as raw material in mineral based industries for sustainable development of the district. Moreover, marble can be very well  utilized in cutting and polishing industries.
The district has bright prospects to establish a few mineral based industries in future, coal based industries in particular.
